YM Emini Trading 09-28-09

By , 28 September, 2009, No Comment

The market stayed well above the 89 period SMA today, so I restricted myself to long trades. There was one beautiful trade that started around R1 and blasted through R2, and that was really it for the day. I took a couple of long trades hoping the market might break out some, but nothing really materialized, and I exited the trade with small gains.

A very common mistake traders make is to try to get back in the money in one fell swoop. Often times a trader will take a trader of lower probability to accomplish this just to quit looking at the red numbers on his DOM.

ES Emini Contract Trading for Wednesday

The Decision Bar software kept me long through some early morning pullbacks, and I was happy to oblige. I considered adding to my positions on some pullbacks, but decided against it. Only had one other notable trade for a 12 tick gain. Interesting day to trade.

Notice how the market never really decided to advance, in a decisive manner, past R2

Ben Bernanke Speaks

Should be a day loaded with all sorts of potential surprises, culminating with Bernanke speaking at 10 a.m.   I would be mindful, early on, of the potential volatility in the market as it digests a wide range of economic data.  Of course, the question on everyone’s mind is a simple one, where are we in this recession?
In the early going, the consumer spending numbers have been pretty positive.

ES Emini: An Enjoyable Day Trading Futures

Today was one of those days that was very enjoyable to trade. The price action stayed above the 89 period SMA so I did not take a short trade all day, and even passed on what appeared to be a pretty good one later in the afternoon. I really just wanted to concentrate on staying in the trend, which turned out to be a pretty good str
